I refer you to a conversation on some blog in the past about observing a dead cat in a box which belonged to some kind of german mid acrobat.

As an eternal being sir I fear that you have the advantage of time on your hands.

you can wait for me to pop my mortal clogs and claim victory even in the event of loosing the bet in say five thousand years time.

the wager is therefore not clearly defined in a boundry of time and .

What is more is the fact that when a time portal is opened in the form of some exotic concoction of black holes and multiple dimensions I feel it necessary to inform you that I would be a difficult man to extract fifty quid from, especialy since I will have a balance engine to aid in my escape.

Do I scent the waft of a wager. Well, in that case, in  Hawkings tradition, I shall wager you £50 that no Higgs will be found. Furthermore, in god tradition, I shall wager you a dozen Crispy Cream Donuts that Hawkings will be the next recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics.

That's the fun thing about it though - isn't it...that everything we know (or think we know) could be wrong!

 

I'm with you on the M Theory. The likelihood of finding proof of the existence of other dimensions is high.

 

On a personal note - I'm going to start drinking as soon as I get up...no point in going out sober overrun by strangelets and dimension shifting aliens...lol. Cheers!
